Aron Ralston "Between a Rock and a Hard Place"

His was an unbelievable ordeal. While hiking alone in Canyonlands National Park in Utah in April 2003, Aron Ralston was climbing down a ledge when an 800-pound boulder fell, and lodged tight against his right hand and wrist. He was trapped, and knew he would die unless he did something drastic. Using only a dull, dirty knife he had in his backpack, Ralston methodically cut off his own arm, then hiked to his own rescue.
